About the Rail Supply Group

The Rail Supply Group (RSG) is the leadership body for the UK rail supply sector, whose aim is to strengthen the capability and competitiveness of the UK rail supply chain to grow business at home and abroad.

Council members comprise of senior representatives drawn from across the rail supply chain including clients, providers, Government and key stakeholders, amongst others.

To enable us to understand how we move from today’s crisis to tomorrow’s recovery, a Rail Supply Group Taskforce, comprising of senior representatives drawn from across the rail supply chain, including clients, providers, Government (The Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy and The Department for Transport) and key trade associations and stakeholders, has been formed to oversee this work with an agreed Terms of Reference.

Our goal is set out the path from the current crisis to the fullest, fastest and best recovery for the rail supply industry.

Our starting point was to conduct an independent research survey to harness your views. An accompanying open letter explaining our position and why the planned independent research survey is needed is available here.

The survey was supported by partners from across the rail industry including: The Civil Engineering Contractors Association (CECA), Network Rail, Rail Alliance, Rail Forum Midlands (RFM), Railway Industry Association (RIA), the RSSB and many others.

Not only does this ensure that research and teaching draws on real-world situations, it further reinforces relationships with SMEs for the benefit of the railway supply chain. As the rail sectors largest dedicated B2B rail community organisation with more than 700 members, the Rail Alliance is all about bringing customers, suppliers and supply chain opportunities together. Its broad spectrum of members extends way beyond rail and positions the Rail Alliance as the go-to organisation for B2B diversity, ingenuity and innovation.
